I have learned to take pride in my animal and the hard work I have done in caring for and making her look her best.  

I have learned the importance of determination to get the job done right, even when things don't always do as planned.

I have learned to realize joy in life's small miracles, the birth of a new calf, the growing cycle of the crops, the beauty of the sunrise. 

I have learned to respect the force of the weather and the challenges it can create.

I have learned the importance of stewardship. The land is our livelihood, and we care for it as such.

I have learned discipline in getting up at 4 am every morning...it's not always easy.

I have learned optimism. There is always next year for better milk prices, a bigger hay crop, or a blue ribbon calf.

I have learned gratitude. I have learned to be thankful for the blessings of working with my family and doing what I love.

I have learned confidence in my knowledge of animals, being used to their rhythms.

I have learned work ethic with early mornings, late nights, heavy lifting, dirty work.

I have learned that faith keeps us going...even when the going gets tough.
